Information
Fire Points. There are ten fire points. In the event of a fire the primary task is to preserve life; property can be replaced. The following actions should be taken:
1. Raise the alarm and warn people in the vicinity to move out of the area.
2. Send someone to obtain help and inform the site owners or staff at reception and telephone for the Fire Service (999 telephones in Reception and Information Room).
3. Use the fire extinguishers closest to the fire to put out the fire if possible and if there is no danger to yourself.
4. Remove any other caravan or tent from the immediate vicinity as long as there is no danger to life.
Driving on site. Please drive slowly, keep to the marked tracks and reduce driving on the site to a minimum especially in wet weather. Please do not hesitate to ask for a tow or assistance if it is wet or slippery.
Cycling. Cycling is permitted throughout the site except for the Top and Middle Burrows, and the approaches to the Toilet blocks. Please ensure that speed is kept down around the Reception area.
Bounds. Fences and locked gates are there to prevent entry in order to safeguard people from any potential danger from derelict buildings or broken glass/metal.
Dog Exercise. This is situated at the South West of Oak Meadow and is for use by dogs and their owners only. Dogs may be exercised off the lead and may be permitted to foul the ground without the need for clearing up. However, we ask that owners keep control of their dogs while others are using the field.
The fencing and hedging provide a relatively safe boundary but we take no responsibility for any animal that escapes!
If you pick up your dog's droppings in plastic bags please dispose of them in the rubbish bins and do not discard them in the hedges.
Recreation Field. This 2 acre field has been set aside for children's play and the playing of games involving balls, frisbees and other projectiles in order to prevent damage to caravans etc, wear and tear on the grass by the pitches and to avoid complaints from others. Please use it.
Waste Water. Wastewater may only be disposed of at the points outside the shower blocks and a disposal point for Motor Caravan 'on board' waste tanks in The Firs. Drains at the water points in Oak Meadow and on Middle Burrows are soakaways for spilt water only and will not cope with grey waste.
Rubbish. Please dispose of rubbish at one of the four points either the rear of the shower block, the Middle Burrows, Oak Meadow and Orchard. Please use the recycling points to help us reduce landfill waste and to keep costs down. We accept plastic and glass bottles and plastic milk containers, drinks cans and food tins, paper and card. Dry cell batteries may be handed in to reception as well as disposable gas canisters. Please take large items of rubbish and unwanted chairs, tables, caravan fittings, white goods and other electrical items to the local tip at Bideford (Caddsdown Industrial Estate beyond Atlantic Village on the Right) or take it home with you.
Smoking. Please do not smoke in buildings; it is against the law. Please do not discard cigarette ends on the ground, we have to pick them up, receptacles are available for them outside most buildings that you are likely to use.
Barbeques. Freestanding barbeques are permitted but do not place instant barbeques on the grass; they kill it; please ask for a flat tile. Two barbeque pits are available in Oak Meadow. The grills and ash trays can be collected from reception when it is open and must be returned clean the following morning.
